🔄 What is a Sweep/Reversal?
A sweep or reversal is a technique that allows you to flip your opponent to reverse positions. Unlike takedowns that start standing, sweeps are typically executed from the ground when you're in a disadvantageous position (guard, half-guard, etc.). The objective is to go from an inferior position to a dominant position, often ending up mounted or in side control on your opponent.
The purpose of sweeps and reversals:
- Reverse disadvantageous positions
- Create offensive opportunities from defensive positions
- Use leverage and timing over strength
- Transition from bottom to top control
Mastering sweeps requires understanding weight distribution, leverage points, and perfect timing to catch opponents off-balance.
